The first complete line of commercial off the shelf power and propulsion system empowers high performance for the commercial UAV market
LOWELL, Massachusetts — April 30, 2019 — ePropelled, the technology leader in magnetic engineering, today announced the Gwynt UAV™ power and propulsion systems for the commercial UAV market. Gwynt products build on ePropelled’s deep expertise in electric machines and represent the first full line of high-performance commercial off the shelf products for both UAV power and propulsion.
“Commercial UAVs now span applications from delivery to security to transporting passenger. ePropelled is launching the first complete line of commercial off the shelf systems for both power and propulsion to help system designers with well-integrated products that meet these new mission requirements,” said Nick Grewal, CEO, ePropelled.
For propulsion systems, Gwynt provides propulsion motors starting at 700w and a family of motor controllers. Cooling and efficiency are key to the propulsion motors. Gwynt propulsion motors can operate at up to 200°C based on the rotor design. In addition, our motors support specific power up to 6kW/k.
For power systems, the Gwynt line includes starter generators and power management units (PMUs). ePropelled’s Gwynt series is the most versatile starter generators in their category. The slim line design boasts a patent-pending active air-cooling system that allows it to operate in temperatures in excess of 200°C. A unique patent-pending adaptor allows bearingless mounting of the starter generator directly onto engines.
Gwynt PMUs have a unique modular design for maximum flexibility. Since analytic data is rapidly becoming critical to the operation of any system, the PMUs monitor and log every input and output, voltage and current level via a Controller Area Network (CAN) and an RS-485 interface to the onboard avionics.
The Gwynt UAV product line represents the industry’s most innovate product line:
- The Starter Generators and Motors utilize ePropelled’s patent-pending cooling technology allowing for higher operating temperature in higher, thinner air.
- The PMUs use a unique modular design which provides flexibility for UAV designers without the cost and time of custom designs.
- The systems take advantage of ePropelled’s unique expertise in magnetic engineering and material science to maxim efficiency.
“Unmanned aerial vehicles continue to evolve as mission profiles become more challenging and demanding. New and innovative propulsion and power supply systems are necessary to improve efficiency, ensure reliability, reduce weight, minimize heat dissipation and lower overall costs,” said Nabeel Shirazee, CTO of ePropelled. “ePropelled has unique expertise to deliver best of class products because of our expertise in material science, manufacturing and magnetic engineering.”
ePropelled’s Gwynt product line will be on display in Booth 2602 at Xponential in Chicago’s McCormick Place from April 20 to May 2, 2019.
